Symbology was born with the goal of making fair trade sexy — to redefine the fashion industry so that ethical fashion would no longer be the exception, but the norm. Symbology celebrates textile arts worldwide by fusing them with modern designs to create inspired, unique pieces--each that tells a story of empowerment.
Symbology employs women artisans from India and the West Bank, each bringing beautiful cultural artforms to our collections. They aim not only to produce beautiful clothing but also to preserve traditional art forms in each garment — from Indian block printing to Palestinian weaving and Native American embroidery. The well-being of their artisans is central to who they are as a company, which is why they pay each of their artisans a livable wage, allowing them to provide for their families. They believe that through sustained work opportunities and involvement in the design process, their artisan partners can affect change not just in their own lives, but our world.
