Charity of the Month - Peninsula Friends of Animals
It's no secret, here at Bead & Reel we love cats! And we believe that loving cats means supporting adoption and spay/neuter programs to ensure that all kitties have a safe and caring permanent home. Bead & Reel founder Sica has personally been supporting Peninsula Friends of Animals for several years, a cageless, no-kill non profit animal welfare group serving her hometown community. Along with her long-time sponsorship of 2 adorable felines, this month we will be donating a portion of each sale to help PFOA continue their tireless work for the cats and kittens of the Olympic Peninsula.
ABOUT PENINSULA FRIENDS OF ANIMALS
Mission: To prevent the birth of unwanted cats and dogs through progressive spay/neuter and educational programs, and to place as many homeless, neglected, or abused animals as possible in safe, loving, permanent homes.
Peninsula Friends of Animals provides temporary shelter, veterinary care, and spay/neutering for rescued cats and dogs, which are fostered until permanent homes can be found. They have spayed and neutered almost 8,000 cats and dogs to date, with over 310 in 2014. In their 15 years of operation, they have managed to alter over 1,300 felines by way of their Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. In November of 2014, they adopted out their 2000th animal from Safe Haven, their adoption center.
The main purpose and objectives of the organization are:
- To reduce companion pet overpopulation humanely through spay/neuter programs.
- To provide homeless, abandoned or abused animals with shelter and care until they can be adopted into good permanent homes.
- To preserve and protect an animal’s right to life, and where needed to elevate their quality of life to the highest level possible within the limits of their physical and financial ability.
PFOA will now and forever be a “No-Kill” animal rescue group.
