What to Expect for January: A Personal Note from the Founder
Contrary to the (very flattering) popular belief, Bead & Reel is actually a one-woman show. With the exception of our occasional guest bloggers or project-based paid interns, I do almost everything myself, both the things you see and the things you don't. Customer service, website maintenance, social media, marketing, photoshoots, order fulfillment, and event planning and execution - that's all me. And, for the first time in the 2 years since Bead & Reel opened, I am actually taking a vacation (and I'm so excited - not that I don't totally adore my days spent helping you!).
What this means is that things will be a bit slower than you've grown accustomed to from January 5th - January 25th. But please keep shopping - we have such an amazing Cause of the Month we're supporting with your purchases, and I've spent a lot of time setting things up so you'll barely even notice I'm gone (you might even prefer not having to deal with me!). Orders will still be shipped in a timely manner, and social media, newsletter, and the blog are pre-programmed for the next few weeks to keep you inspired and informed. However, emails, phone calls, press requests, return requests, and anything else that requires an answer from me may not be properly addressed until January 25th. I also will not be adding any new styles, restocks, or be able to do special orders or private shopping appointments until I return.
So what exactly will I be doing while I'm shamelessly ignoring your emails? I will be in Kenya exploring wildlife conservation, sustainable farming, and women's empowerment. Feel free to follow along on my Instagram (@sica_schmitz), I am hoping to have sporadic time and internet to share photos of elephants and vegan meals and the amazing women I will be getting to know.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding, and I promise that upon my return things will get back to the high quality of customer service you expect from Bead & Reel.
And thank you for supporting Bead & Reel and my crazy dream of starting an ethical fashion lifestyle brand, which allows me to have these (very occasional) adventures.
